Maharashtra: ‘Governor Should Invite NCP-Congress To Form Govt, Since BJP-Sena Can't,' Says Milind Deora

On Saturday, both Congress and its ally NCP said the governor should have taken the decision to ask the BJP to indicate its willingness to form government much earlier.

New Delhi: Amid the political slugfest in Maharashtra, Congress leader Milind Deora has said that the second largest alliance, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)-Congress alliance is ready to form the government in state, since BJP and Shiv Sena could not reach a consensus. Deora’s statement comes a day after Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari asked the BJP, the single largest party in the new Assembly, to "indicate the willingness and ability" to form government, creating hope that the 15-day- long political impasse in the state will end. “Maharashtra’s Governor should invite NCP-Congress - the second largest alliance - to form the government now that BJP-Shiv Sena have refused to do so,” said Deora in a tweet on Sunday. However, the Shiv Sena has hinted that it is willing to form a government with the NCP and the Congress, in its latest editorial in Saamna. On Saturday, both Congress and its ally NCP said the governor should have taken the decision to ask the BJP to indicate its willingness to form government much earlier.
