MP: 10 Luxury Cars, TV Worth Rs 30 Lakh Found During Raids On Govt Official Who Drew Rs 30,000 Salary

In a case of disproportionate assets, the Lokayukta's special police establishment searched the home of a woman assistant engineer on contract with the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation.

In connection with a disproportionate assets case, the Lokayukta Police in Madhya Pradesh raided the home of a woman assistant engineer and discovered a TV set worth Rs 30 lakh, over 50 foreign breed dogs, and ten luxury cars, news agency PTI reported on Friday (May 12).

Assist engineer Hema Meena, who works on contract for the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation (MPPHC), was paid Rs 30,000 per month. Her assets were discovered to be 233% disproportionate to her known source of income. According to officials, the engineer should have been paid Rs 18 lakh per month rather than Rs 30,000, the report said.

According to Lokayukta DSP Sanjay Shukla, the raid was carried out in response to a complaint filed against Hema Meena in 2020 for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. Following receipt of the complaint, an investigation was conducted, and the raid was carried out on Thursday.

Shukla further said that different teams of over 50 cops from Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment (SPE) raided Meena's residence in Bhopal.

According to the police, Meena owned a 40-room bungalow in Bilkhiriya, near Bhopal, that was registered in her father's name. It is expected to cost more than Rs one crore. Aside from that, more than 50 foreign breed dogs worth lakhs of rupees were discovered in her farmhouse, including Pitbull and Dobermann.

As a result, a case was filed against her under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and a search warrant was issued by the Special Court for the Prevention of Corruption Act in Bhopal. The search was conducted at three locations, including Meena's residence in Bilkhiriya, under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Bhopal, Manu Vyas.

According to preliminary estimates, Meena's assets are worth between Rs 5 and 7 crore, with more assets likely to be revealed as the search continues. As per the reports, the Lokayukta search began at 6 am, and the property's value will be determined after counting the inventory.
