LoP Kharge To Lead 'INDIA' Delegation To Meet President Murmu Over Manipur Violence

Kharge has requested a meeting with the President of India to discuss the Manipur issue.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge will head a team of 21 MPs to meet President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, news agency ANI reported. Kharge has requested a meeting with the President of India to discuss the Manipur issue.

Earlier on Monday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Narendra Modi administration of being "indifferent" to the grief and misery of the people of violence-torn Manipur.

The Congress chairman stated that opposition coalition INDIA MPs who visited Manipur to examine the situation heard heartbreaking stories of agony from the people there.

"While Manipur faced turmoil, the Modi government appeared indifferent," he tweeted, adding that the community split was "deeply concerning."

"Despite time for poll rallies, self-PR train inaugurations, and attending BJP meetings, PM Modi seems to have no time to address the anguish and suffering of Manipur's people or work towards resolving inter-community issues," Kharge stated. 

"Economic activities have come to a halt, with children unable to attend school, farmers ceasing their farming, and people grappling with both financial losses and psychological hardships," Kharge further said on Twitter.

While Manipur faced turmoil, the Modi Government appeared indifferent.

Over the weekend, a group of 21 INDIA alliance MPs visited Manipur and talked with numerous people at relief camps put up for those impacted by violence in the state.
