Jailed RJD Supremo Lalu Yadav's Condition Deteriorates At RIMS Hospital, Lung-Infection Detected

Lalu also took Coronavirus test and the Rapid antigen test for COVID is negative. RT-PCR report will come tomorrow.

Ranchi: The health condition of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving imprisonment after conviction in different fodder scam cases, deteriorated on Thursday night. The RJD supremo was admitted to the paying ward of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi after complaints of breathing problems. 

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta visited the RIMS to inquire about the RJD chief on hearing about his health condition. RIMS Director Dr. Vivek Kashyap was also present. As per latest update, former Bihar CM's health condition is stable now. Lalu also took Coronavirus test and the Rapid antigen test for COVID is negative. RT-PCR report will come tomorrow.

The former Bihar chief minister, who has been undergoing treatment for more than two years at the RIMS, was admitted on August 30, 2018, after he surrendered at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail on orders of the Jharkhand Court in the fodder scam.

The RJD supremo, who has been in prison since December 2017, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in 2018 under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and seven years under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the fodder scam case.

The case pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crores from the Dumka treasury by Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996 when Lalu served as the Bihar Chief Minister.
