New Delhi: Over 190 primary schools in Srinagar will re-open today, besides the government offices to be restored with "full functionality" across Kashmir valley on Monday, the J&K administration said. The J&K authorities also made 10 more telephone exchanges operational in the Valley on Sunday. However, it again snapped the services of one of the 17 centres restored on Saturday after reports that landline phones were being used for spreading misinformation campaign, the officials said. With these, around 28,000 fixed-line phones, out of around 50,000 in Kashmir Valley, are functional now. On Friday, J&K chief secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam, had said that schools will be opened after weekend as the government did not want the study of children to suffer. However, the officials believe that there won't be much attendance because of the restrictions in the valley. The government has also asked its employees to report to duty and arranged for transport. As per the report, restrictions on movement and assembly of people have been gradually eased but police and paramilitary forces are still placed at all sensitive areas. Security forces took various measures to contain the protests locally. Majority of the injured were discharged from hospitals after first-aid and only two people were being treated for pellet injuries, they said. In Budgam, a man died when protests were going on in his locality. His family and the protesters claimed that he died in police action, but the post-mortem did not show any injury and doctors said he died due to heart attack.
