Karnataka woman tied to pole, harassed over unpaid loan; 7 people arrested

The onlookers are heard saying beat her up with slippers and brooms.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): An appalling video has gone viral where a woman was allegedly tied to a pole in Kodigehalli district of Karnataka. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday and she suffered this form of ignominy for failing to repay a loan. As per reports from ANI, Rajamani, the 36 year old woman is a resident of Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district and runs a small hotel and a chit-fund business in Bengaluru. The woman owed Rs. 50,000 to some people. Unable to clear the dues on time, Rajamani was tied to a pole by the men who intended to humiliate her publicly. In the video that has flared up online, the woman is seen standing helplessly tied to the pole. Adding to the shock are onlookers who are heard saying "beat her up with slippers and brooms." Seven people have been arrested by the police for subjecting the woman to such kind of physical and mental harassment. Further investigations are still on to find out whether more people were involved in the heinous act.
