Karnataka: JD(S) Leader HD Kumaraswamy Hospitalised Due To Fever. 'Medically Stable,' Doctors Say

JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy had been travelling extensively to campaign for the party's candidates before he fell ill. Now, he is said to be "medically stable and is recuperating" by his doctor.

Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy, who has been admitted to Manipal Hospital with symptoms of exhaustion and general weakness, is recuperating. The hospital treating him said he is "medically stable and is recuperating", PTI reported. According to the former Karnataka chief minister's office, Kumaraswamy, who had been touring continuously, was suffering from fever and the doctors advised him to rest.

The hospital said in a statement that HD Kumaraswamy was taken to the hospital on Saturday evening (April 22) on the Old Airport Road in Bengaluru and was put under the care of Dr Satyanarayana Mysore. Kumaraswamy had symptoms of exhaustion and generalised weakness.

"Mr H D Kumaraswamy was admitted on April 22, 2023 evening to Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road Bengaluru under care of Dr Satyanarayana Mysore. He is admitted with symptoms of exhaustion and generalised weakness," the hospital said in a statement, as per PTI.

Kumaraswamy had not rested and was travelling without a break. According to Times Now, his party said in a statement to the media that while Kumaraswamy was continuously campaigning, the heat had harmed his health.

Ahead of polls on May 10 Assembly polls in Karnataka, Kumaraswamy had been travelling extensively campaigning for JD(S) candidates across the state.

The 63-year-old leader has asked JD(S) workers and leaders not to worry and that he will participate in the election campaign after resting for a bit, his office said in a statement.

The party further said that the leader would return to campaigning once the doctors give him the “all-clear”.

Kumaraswamy had undergone heart-related surgery in the past.

While the polls will be held on May 10, the counting of the votes will be held on May 13.
