In the past few months large numbers of Kashmiris are turning up for army recruitment and also are showing interest in joining the police forces. Militants, therefore, have been targeting local security jawans who usually come home on leave. Experts say incidents like these are a form of message given to local Kashmirs to not join security agencies operating in the Valley. Couple of days ago Hizbul Mujahideen had put up a poster in Pulwama that warned locals to stay away from being recruited by the police force. "Those who would disobey will be killed," the poster read.
