Covid-19: Not Wearing A Face-Mask In Jharkhand? Be Ready To Pay Rs 1 Lakh Fine
The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the newly-formulated Jharkhand Contagious Disease Ordinance.
New Delhi: In a bid to control the transmission of Coronavirus in Jharkhand, the Hemant Soren cabinet has approved an ordinance that makes the act of not wearing mask on public an offence liable to a penalty of Rs 1 lakh. The ordinance also makes illegal assembly liable to penalty and a term of imprisonment.
The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the newly-formulated Jharkhand Contagious Disease Ordinance.
The total cases of Coronavirus in Jharkhand have shot up to 6485 on Thursday.
On Tuesday it was also decided that all shops will remain closed for three days in the weekend in the state due to rising coronavirus cases. The three-day closure was announced by the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Tuesday.

Legislators infected by Covid-19 in the state:
Jharkhand BJP MLA C P Singh on Wednesday said he has been infected by coronavirus. In a tweet, the former state minister said he tested positive for COVID-19 and asked those who had been in touch with him recently to test their swab samples. The senior BJP leader, who is in home isolation, also said that he would send a list of people whom he had met to the administration.
Singh is the third legislator in the state to have been detected with the highly infectious disease. Earlier, Drinking and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur and JMM MLA Mathura Mahato tested positive for coronavirus. They are now under treatment.
Coronavirus In India:
India on Thursday recorded the highest single day spike of 45,720 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours taking the total tally to 12,38,635, the Union Health Ministry data revealed.
With 1,129 fresh deaths, the overall toll reached 29,861. But the recovery rate stood at 63.18 per cent with as many as 7,82,607 cured, which is almost twice the number of active patients at 4,26,167.
