J&K: NIA Raids 10 Locations In Terror-Funding Case; Seizes Incriminating Documents

Those whose premises have been searched include the residence and office of Khurram Parvez, his associates Parvez Ahmad Bukhari, Parvez Ahmad Matta, and Bengaluru-based associate Swati Sheshadri and Parveena Ahanger, Chairperson of APDPK and offices of NGO Athrout and GK Trust.

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted searches at 10 locations in Kashmir valley, including the offices of a Srinagar based leading English daily 'Greater Kashmir'. The raids were conducted in two valley districts, Srinagar and Bandipora, and one location in Bangalore. ALSO READ | India Set To Receive 16 More Rafale Fighter Jets By April 2021, Three Arriving On November 5 “The raids were in connection with a case pertaining to certain Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Trusts raising funds within the country and abroad in the name of charitable activities and then using those funds for carrying out secessionist and separatist activities in J&K,” claimed NIA official statement. The statement said, “The case was registered by NIA on 8/10/2020 u/s 120B, 124 A IPC and sections 17, 18, 22A, 22C, 38, 39 and 40 UA(P)A, 1967 on receipt of credible information that certain NGOs and Trusts are collecting funds domestically and abroad through and business contributions, etc. and are then utilizing these funds for secessionist and militant activities in J&K.” ALSO READ | Aargoya Setu App In Fresh Controversy! Govt Dept Denies Knowing Who Created App, Top RTI Body Criticises Response Those whose premises have been searched include the residence and office of Khurram Parvez (co-ordinator of J&K Coalition of Civil Society), his associates Parvez Ahmad Bukhari, Parvez Ahmad Matta and Bengaluru-based associate Swati Sheshadri and Parveena Ahanger, Chairperson of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDPK) and offices of NGO Athrout and GK Trust. The statement claimed to have seized several incriminating documents and electronic devices from these locations. “Further investigation in the case is continued,” reads the statement.
