J&K: Civilian Injured In Cross-Firing In Shopian Succumbs To Injuries
The civilian has been identified as Shoib Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Turkwangam area of south Kashmir district.
New Delhi: A civilian, who was injured in cross-firing in an encounter between the terrorists and joint team of police and security forces in Turkwagam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, officials said. This took place after the terrorists fired upon a joint patrol party of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)-182Bn/SOG of Pulwama near the bridge connecting Litter Pulwama with Turkwangam in Shopian. Jammu and Kashmir Police said the terrorists after a brief chance encounter managed to slip into the nearby orchards, adding the search is still on.
The civilian has been identified as Shoib Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Turkwangam area of south Kashmir district.
“Terrorist fired upon joint patrol party of CRPF-182Bn/SOG of Pulwama near the bridge connecting Litter Pulwama with Turkwangam, Shopian. During exchange of fire between terrorist & our joint team, 01civilian namely Shoib Ah Ganie S/O Gh Mohd R/O Turkwangam, Shopian got injured,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
The injured civilian was shifted to the Pulwama district hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
A case has been registered in this regard and the police have begun the investigation.
“He was referred to District Hospital, Pulwama for treatment where he succumbed to injuries. Terrorists after brief chance encounter managed to slip into nearby orchards. Search is still going on. Case has been registered and investigated taken up. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
