'West Has Different Laws For Russia And Israel': Omar Abdullah Condemns Gaza Bombings

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah expressed concern over the situation in Palestine.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Tuesday condemned the bombings in Gaza, and lashed out at the Western world for showing differrent laws for Russia and Israel, news agency PTI reported. When questioned about his reaction to the latest flare-up in the Israel-Palestine conflict, former Jammu and Kashmir CM told reporters: "We have been against the events unfolding in Gaza from the very beginning. I don't understand the killing of innocent people who have no connection to the attacks on Israel."

Slamming West for giving freeway to Israel, Abdullah said: "The world has proved that there are different laws for Russia and Israel... What Russia did to Ukraine was a war crime; then what Israel is doing to Gaza is not wrong? Both things cannot be correct. Now the world will have to decide what is right."

On Monday, Israel increased its bombings in Gaza, where the death toll was swiftly increasing, while the US recommended Israel to postpone an expected military invasion to enable more time to negotiate the release of captives kidnapped by Hamas terrorists.

Israeli aeroplanes have bombed sites in Gaza, as well as two airports in Syria and a mosque in the occupied West Bank purportedly used by extremists. A third tiny relief convoy from Egypt arrived in Gaza, where the 2.3 million-strong population has been running short of food, water, and medication due to Israel's two-week blockade. With Israel continued blocking gasoline entrance, the UN said its relief delivery would come to a standstill within days if it could not get fuel.

Gaza hospitals are fighting to keep generators operating in order to power life-saving medical equipment including preterm baby incubators.

More than 1,400 Israelis have been slain, the majority of them were killed in the original Hamas onslaught. Furthermore, the Israeli military claims that 222 persons were seized and brought into Gaza by Hamas during the raid.
