The Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out a successful rescue operation on Sunday (July 2), saving two injured civilians from the treacherous terrain of Thajiwas Glacier in Sonamarg, Kashmir. The operation, conducted by an IAF ALH Mk III helicopter, was executed swiftly and effectively.

According to a defence spokesman, the civilians, identified as Faisal Wani and Zeeshan Mushtaq, were located by a ground party in the challenging and inhospitable glacier. Due to the absence of a landing field, the helicopter had to resort to a low hover operation to execute the rescue, PTI reported.

As per the report, one of the injured individuals had suffered multiple fractures, hypothermia, and other injuries, making the timely rescue crucial for their survival.

The entire operation was coordinated and controlled by the Air Force Station Srinagar, which launched the helicopter and oversaw the rescue mission. Despite the operational challenges posed by the difficult terrain, the IAF displayed exceptional professionalism and efficiency in executing the mission.

According to the defence PRO, The entire operation was over in an hour. Air Force Station Srinagar was in charge of the entire operation from where the helicopter was launched and the operation was controlled.

IAF Helicopter Rescues Stranded Farmers Clinging To Electric Pole In Flooded Gujarat District

An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter carried out a remarkable rescue operation that lasted over 10 hours, saving two farmers who had climbed an electric pole in a flooded part of Junagadh district, Gujarat. The farmers had found themselves in a precarious situation due to heavy rain and rising floodwaters, prompting the need for immediate assistance.

According to an official release, the Ojat River, which flows through Junagadh district, swollen due to heavy rainfall, forcing two farmers to seek refuge on top of an electric pole. Despite the efforts of a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team to rescue them by boat, the strong current of the floodwaters hampered their progress and prevented them from reaching the stranded farmers.

The farmers were stranded near Sutrej village in Keshod taluka after heavy rains inundated the area, according to collector Anil Ranavasiya. Despite the local sarpanch's warnings, the two people went to their farmland on Friday evening, only to be trapped by the rising floodwaters. They decided to climb the electric pole for safety as they sought higher ground, the statement said.
