India’s Omicron Tally Crosses 8,000 Mark With A 6.02 % Rise In Last 24 Hrs | Check State Wise List

The highest number of Omicron cases were reported from Maharashtra at 1,738. It was followed by West Bengal at 1,672. Meanwhile, Delhi reported 549 Omicron cases.

New Delhi: India’s Omicron tally has reached 8,209 with a rise of 6.02 percent since yesterday. The highest number of Omicron cases were reported from Maharashtra at 1,738. It was followed by West Bengal at 1,672. Meanwhile, Delhi reported 549 Omicron cases. Total recoveries of Omicron cases in the last 24 hours were 3,109.

India’s covid-19 caseload has reached 16,56,341 with a jump of 2,58,089 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The number of deaths reported in the last 24 hours was 385 along with 1,51,740 recoveries. The daily positivity rate stands at 19.65 percent currently. And the active cases stand for 4.43 percent of total cases.

Maharashtra has recorded 41,327 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 29 fatalities. However, Mumbai has shown a decline in fresh cases by lodging 7,895 new covid-19 cases. On the other hand, Delhi reported 18,286 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 28 deaths.

Meanwhile, West Bengal is showing an upward trend in covid cases as it recorded 14,938 new infections with 36 fatalities. In order to curb the spread of the virus, the West Bengal government has extended the restriction till January 31. 

While marriages and other gatherings are allowed in a restricted manner, the night curfew and travel restrictions are still in place. All schools, colleges, and other educational institutions are also closed till January 31. According to news agency PTI, the night curfew in West Bengal is in place from 10 PM to 5 AM exempting health, law and order, transport of essential commodities including agricultural produce, and other emergency services.
