The envoy added that the new India is driven by the deployment of modern technology for the benefit of women and girls, which aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has often times stated unequivocally that women are not to be seen as just homemakers now but, they should also be seen as nation builders.
News agency ANI quoted her as saying, "Today, new India is driven by the deployment of modern tech for the benefit of women & girls. This is in keeping with the vision of PM who has stated unequivocally that women are to be no more seen as homemakers only but also as nation builders."
The current Indian government has actively worked for the empowerment of women by taking initiatives and introducing schemes to empower them. One such scheme to empower women is ‘Sakhi Nivas’. It is a centrally sponsored scheme under which financial assistance is released to states and union territories to open hostels for working women to provide them with a safe environment.
Another initiative to empower women from the roots is the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme. This initiative was launched in Haryana on January 22, 2015 by the Prime Minister of India to guarantee the survival, safety, and education of girls. The initiative intends to tackle the issue of the unequal sex ratio in recent years, raise social awareness, and improve the effectiveness of welfare benefits for girls.
