Delhi: I-T raids at 22 locations over Lalu Yadav’s ‘benami’ land deals worth Rs 1K Cr
New Delhi: Income Tax department on Tuesday conducted raids and surveys at twenty two locations in the New Delhi and Gurugram; with regards to ‘benami’ land deals worth 1,000 crore involving RJD Chief Lalu PrasadYadav.
This isn’t the first land scam that has been hanged around Lalu’s neck. Earlier, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had accused Lalu of acquiring benami property worth Rs 950 crore in Patna.
Sushil Modi had alleged that Lalu and his family illegally owned land worth Rs 200 crore and were constructing a mall worth Rs 750 crore on the same.
Commenting on the same, Lalu had called Sushil Modi a scamster and accused him of tarnishing his image, saying “Sushil Modi is a ghotalebaad (scamster)”. He further said, “The ones who cry scam are biggest scamsters”.
Lalu Yadav’s son was also accused of selling soil extracted from mall site to Patna Zoo for Rs 90 lakh. Defending his son against the allegations, Lalu had said, “No soil was sold to the zoo”.
