‘I Am Very Much Alive’, Kiren Rijiju Tells Supriya Sule After NCP Leader's Gaffe In Lok Sabha

His statement came after Sule by mistake said that “he is no more” while applauding his role as a sports minister during her address in Lok Sabha.

New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday told Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule on a lighter note that he is “very much alive.”

His statement came after Sule by mistake said that “he is no more” while applauding his role as a sports minister during her address in Lok Sabha.

To Sule’s slip of tongue, Rijiju took to Twitter and wrote, “I am very much alive and performing my duty @supriya_sule Ji..”

He further added, “Lighter note apart, thank you for the pleasant words because the spirit of sports transcends beyond politics and ideology to make one #TeamIndia.”

Sule was appreciating the role of Kiren Rijiju and the incumbent sports minister, Anurag Thakur, in Lok Sabha in Lok Sabha last week when she mistakenly said that Rijiju who is now the Minister for Law and Justice was no more.

She was immediately corrected by Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi. She realised that she misspoke and corrected herself by saying “he is no more the minister.”

Sule said, “Rijiju's contribution as sports minister was substantial and the House should, in one voice, compliment him and Thakur was taking the leadership forward.”

She added that Rijiju worked a lot using social media to encourage youth toward sports.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha on the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill on Monday. The bill allows the government to keep a record of personal data like iris scans, fingerprints, etc. of any accused for future identification.
