During the bill's debate in the Upper House of Parliament, Shah referred to the Supreme Court's decision upholding the repeal of Article 370 as "a major defeat for the opposition parties".
"...The Supreme Court also agreed that it is not proper to challenge Governor's Rule and President's Rule announcements...When the temporary provision was made, the question arose as to how it would be removed if it was only temporary.
