'Kejriwal Will Bid You Goodbye After...': Amit Shah Jibe At INDIA Bloc Over Debate On Delhi Services Bill
Alleging that the Opposition uproar in LS is not about Manipur, Amit Shah said that the bloc has "exposed" itself as the truth is it doesn't want CM Arvind Kejriwal "running away" from the alliance.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday amped up an attack on the INDIA bloc of opposition parties saying that its priorities are "clear" that is, a small party like AAP doesn't "run away" from the alliance. Alleging that the Opposition absence in the Lok Sabha is not about Manipur, Shah said that the bloc has "exposed" itself as the truth is it doesn't want CM Arvind Kejriwal "running away" from the alliance of anti-BJP parties. The statement came as the Lok Sabha took up the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 for consideration and passage.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah mocked Opposition unity saying that even after expanding its alliance, the bloc will fail to dislodge Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power.
"All bills that come they decline (to participate) demanding discussion on Manipur, but when a bill with the potential to break opposition unity was introduced, they forgot about Manipur, democracy, and riots... Telling 130 crore citizens that they are bothered about elections and not Manipur, they have no principles," Shah remarked, questioning opposition leaders' "absence" while discussing other bills.
He went on to claim that after the passage of the Delhi services bill, Kejriwal will "bid them bye-bye" and break off from the Oppositon alliance.

"For you, people's bills are not important, what is important is that a small 'supari'-sized party doesn't run away from the alliance. Your priority has been made very clear," Shah remarked.

"Someone should have admitted the truth that we have come so that Kejriwal doesn't run away from our alliance. The opposition is not worried about Manipur. I have been saying the government is ready for a discussion on Manipur, however long they want it to be. All answers will be given and I will be the one answering," the Home Minister added.
Shah went on to emphasise that the Parliament was not a place to "mislead people" as he stated that leaders are talking about rights given to a state while Delhi is a union territory that too the national capital.
He asserted that the Constitution, under Article 239AA, granted powers to the Parliament to make laws for issues related to Delhi.

Delhi CM Kejriwal On Amit Shah's Lok Sabha Address
Following Shah's address, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Union Home Minister did not have a single valid argument in favour of bringing the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which has been passed in Lok Sabha today.
"Today I heard Amit Shah ji speaking in Lok Sabha on the bill which snatches away the rights of the people of Delhi. They do not have a single valid argument to support the bill... They also know that they are doing wrong. This bill is a bill to enslave the people of Delhi. This is a bill that makes them helpless and helpless. INDIA will never let this happen," he said in a tweet in Hindi.
BSP MP On Why Mayawati Distanced Herself From Delhi Service Bill Matter
Meanwhile, BSP MP Malook Nagar spoke to news agency ANI about his party's stance over the Delhi services bill.
"If a Supreme Court has given a ruling and an Ordinance come soon after in haste...it should be seen and work should be done on how to make Delhi beautiful, how basic facilities should be given to people...Instead of resorting to allegations, blame, advertisements work should be done in the interest of public, country and Delhi. So, after a lot of deliberation, party chief Mayawati distanced herself and we are staging a walkout over this Bill. We are not standing with anyone," he said, as quoted by ANI.
The AAP-led Delhi government has been at loggerheads with the Union government over the control of Group-A officers in the National Capital Territory administration.
In May, the Centre promulgated the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023 that overturned the Supreme Court judgment handing over control of services in the NCT administration to the Delhi government.
