'Height Of Hooliganism': Delhi Minister After Police Detain 50 AAP Leaders For Protesting Near CBI Office

Delhi police on Sunday detained several AAP leaders, including party MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Gopal Rai, for protesting near the CBI office.

CBI Questioning Sisodia: The Delhi police on Sunday detained several AAP leaders, including party MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Gopal Rai, for protesting near the CBI office where Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is being questioned by the agency in the Delhi excise policy case.

The leaders have been detained at the Fatehpur Beri police station, reported ANI. Delhi police said that a total of 50 persons (42 men & 8 women) have been detained.

According to PTI, AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar confirmed the detention and said, "We were protesting peacefully but were detained."

In a tweet in Hindi, Delhi minister Gopal Rai said, "Modi ji's hooliganism at its peak... I cannot walk without someone's help but police surrounded my car from all sides and forcefully made the person accompanying me get down.”

"Policemen barged inside my car and are taking me. This is the height of hooliganism but neither will we be scared nor will we bow down," the minister further said in the tweet.

Delhi police said that Section 144 has been imposed in the area near the CBI office and the protesters were detained to ensure that the law and order situation doesn't go out of hand.

“At Lodhi road picket near CGO complex a few leaders & supporters of AAP party gathered with an intention to cross the barricade & protest near CBI. They were stopped & not allowed to cross barricade. As such they sat on the main road, thereby obstructing the traffic,” the police were quoted as saying by ANI.

They added, “They were requested to vacate the place as section 144 CrPC has been imposed in the area but they continued sitting and shouting slogans. Total 50 persons (42 men & 8 women) were detained including AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai.”

The CBI on Sunday began second round of questioning of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. He arrived at the agency’s office after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and addressing party workers in a fierce as well as emotional speech.

As per PTI, Sisodia, accused number one in the CBI FIR, was earlier questioned on October 17, a month before the agency filed its charge sheet on November 25.

The CBI had not named Sisodia in the charge sheet as the central probe agency kept the probe open against him and other suspects and accused, reported PTI.
