The monsoon could arrive in Delhi by the end of this week, a private weather agency Skymet said. However, incidents of waterlogging reported from several parts of the country.

Heavy rainfall has led to major waterlogging and damage in various parts of India. The reports of waterlogging came from distant locations like Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi, where the monsoon is yet to arrive. In South Delhi's Aya Nagar, residents faced difficulties due to waterlogged, damaged roads caused by recent pre-monsoon showers. Severe waterlogging was reported in Rajasthan's Dholpur and Gujarat's Ambaji area. The visuals were quite similar in several roads in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh were damaged amid the heavy downpour.

Monsoon Expected To Arrive In Delhi By Week's End

The monsoon could arrive in Delhi by the end of this week, providing relief from the current humid conditions, a private weather agency Skymet said, as reported by PTI.

"The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on June 29 or 30," Mahesh Palawat of Skymet told PTI. Generally, the monsoon reaches Delhi between June 27 and 29. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not provided specific details on the monsoon arrival in the national capital.

Delhi has already been experiencing pre-monsoon showers, bringing some respite from the heat. The Safdarjung Observatory recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, two degrees above normal.

The weather has been influenced by a western disturbance, which has led to a drop in maximum temperatures. This June, Delhi has recorded nine heatwave days, compared to none in 2023 and 2022.
