Weather News: Waterlogging In Delhi, Rajasthanj, Gujarat; 8 Killed In Lightning Strike Incidents In Bihar
The monsoon could arrive in Delhi by the end of this week, a private weather agency Skymet said. However, incidents of waterlogging reported from several parts of the country.
Heavy rainfall has led to major waterlogging and damage in various parts of India. The reports of waterlogging came from distant locations like Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi, where the monsoon is yet to arrive. In South Delhi's Aya Nagar, residents faced difficulties due to waterlogged, damaged roads caused by recent pre-monsoon showers. Severe waterlogging was reported in Rajasthan's Dholpur and Gujarat's Ambaji area. The visuals were quite similar in several roads in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh were damaged amid the heavy downpour.

However, in neighbouring country Nepal, at least 14 people were killed in landslide, flooding, and lightning incidents in various parts of the country within the last 24 hours with the onset of monsoon, news agency ANI reported citing National Disaster Risk Reduction And Management Authority (NDRRMA) of Nepal.

Monsoon Expected To Arrive In Delhi By Week's End
The monsoon could arrive in Delhi by the end of this week, providing relief from the current humid conditions, a private weather agency Skymet said, as reported by PTI.
"The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on June 29 or 30," Mahesh Palawat of Skymet told PTI. Generally, the monsoon reaches Delhi between June 27 and 29. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not provided specific details on the monsoon arrival in the national capital.
Delhi has already been experiencing pre-monsoon showers, bringing some respite from the heat. The Safdarjung Observatory recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, two degrees above normal.
The weather has been influenced by a western disturbance, which has led to a drop in maximum temperatures. This June, Delhi has recorded nine heatwave days, compared to none in 2023 and 2022.
Rainfall In Rajasthan: Two Siblings Die In Rain-Related Incident
Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in many parts of Rajasthan, with Bikaner being the hottest place on June 26 at 43 degrees Celsius. A 12-year-old boy and his six-year-old sister died after a shop's balcony collapsed due to rain, PTI reported. Three others were also injured in the incident.
The highest rainfall of 7 cm was recorded in Sedwa, Barmer followed by 6 cm in Mahwa, Dausa, and 4 cm in various other regions. Dholpur recorded 65 mm of rain, Chittorgarh 27.8 mm, Sikar 10 mm, Phalodi 8.8 mm, and Karauli 6.5 mm, according to the meteorological department.
Eight Killed In Lightning Strikes In Bihar
At least eight people were killed by lightning strikes in six districts of Bihar over the last 24 hours, PTI reported. The affected districts include Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the deaths and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each deceased.
The CM's office reported two deaths each in Bhagalpur and Munger, with one death in Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria.
