Heavy Rain Batters North India, Claims Many Lives: House Roof Collapses, Park Turns Into Pond, Vehicle Swept Away
As per an India Today report, 16 deaths were reported from Rajasthan over two days — two on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Landslides and flash floods claimed the lives of three girls in Himachal Pradesh.
Heavy rain across north India claimed many lives on Sunday, with the downpours causing landslides and waterlogging. Sunday marked the second consecutive day of intense rainfall, with Rajasthan being the hardest hit.
As per an India Today report, 16 deaths were reported from Rajasthan over two days — two on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Karauli district recorded "exceptionally heavy rainfall" of 38 cm.
Many areas in Punjab and Haryana were also affected by heavy rain. In Haryana's Yamunanagar district, several villages were flooded after a breach in the embankment of the Som River. In Punjab's Hoshiarpur, nine people, including eight members of a family, died on Sunday when their vehicle was swept away by an overflowing seasonal rivulet.

Landslides and flash floods claimed the lives of three girls and left one person missing in Himachal Pradesh. It also led to the closure of over 280 roads, affecting 458 power and 48 water supply schemes.
In Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun, a woman and her seven-year-old son died after the roof of their house collapsed due to the rains. In Uttarakhand, a massive landslide temporarily blocked the Mandakini River at Bhimbali.
Delhi To Recieve Moderate Rainfall
In Delhi-NCR, heavy rains caused waterlogging and traffic snarls on several road stretches. A 13-year-old boy lost his life after being electrocuted while playing cricket in the Ranhola area of outer Delhi on Sunday. A seven-year-old boy, meanwhile, drowned in a heavily waterlogged park in Rohini's Sector 20 on Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers in the national capital on Monday, and issued an advisory urging residents to stay indoors, secure windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary travel.
