Haryana villagers write to CM Khattar; want village to be named after Donald Trump

The villagers also believe the same would bring in 24x7 water supply and electricity in village

New Delhi: United States’ 45th President Donald Trump has a new set of followers, this time in Marora village that falls in the Mewat district of Haryana, whose natives have been pressing to change the name of their village to ‘Trump Village’. The village was renamed on June 18 during an event organised by Sulabh International in the village, where a signboard was placed which said – “Welcome to Trump Village”. The reports suggest that the demand came as an aftermath of the growing friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States’ President Donald Trump. As per reports, the demand for renaming the village was denied by the village, who said that the demand doesn’t comply with the rules and regulations. As per the villagers, the new name would bring in development in the village and would lead to construction of toilets as well. They are of belief that it would also give them a unique identity. The villagers also aspire to see their village get a 24x7 water supply and to be listed on Google Maps. As of now the name of the village is –Trump. Sulabh International has written a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, where they have requested him to change the name.
