Haryana Elections 2019: BJP To Stake Claim For Govt Formation Despite Failing To Attain Halfway Majority Mark

New Delhi: The ruling BJP in Haryana, which could not cross the halfway mark (46 out of 90 Assembly seats ) in the recently concluded Haryana state assembly elections, will present its case to form the government on late Thursday evening, learnt from sources. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be meeting Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya to stake claim to form the government. The BJP won 40 seats, but all its state ministers lost, barring two, including Anil Vij and state party chief Subhash Barala. However, the rival Congress won 31 seats, while less than 12-month-old Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), which broke away from the state's once major regional party Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) owing to family disputes, won 10 seats. Nine others, comprising independents, have also won.
