Republic Day: 23 Tableaux Part Of R-Day Parade This Year — Check Winners Since 2014

Republic Day 23 Tableaux: The selection process involves scrutiny of tableaux proposals by an expert committee and several rounds of interactions by the committee on the theme, presentation, aesthetics and technical elements of the tableaux.

During the Republic Day parade this year, 23 tableaux showcasing the nation's cultural heritage, economic development, and strong internal and external security will be featured. These tableaux will include 17 from states and union territories and six from various government ministries and departments.

During the parade on January 26, 2023, seventeen tableaux from states and union territories such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala will be showcased, highlighting the country's geographical and cultural diversity.

Additionally, six tableaux from various government ministries including the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Home Affairs (Central Armed Police Forces), Ministry of Home Affairs (Narcotics Control Bureau), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Central Public Works Department), Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (Indian Council Agriculture Research) will be on display, showcasing their achievements in recent years.

Republic Day 2022: The tableau of Uttar Pradesh, based on the theme of 'One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham, was declared as the best. Karnataka bagged the second place for its tableau based on "Cradle of Traditional Handicrafts' and Meghalaya got the third position for its tableau on Meghalaya's 50 years of statehood and its tribute to women-led co-operative societies and SHGs'.

Republic Day 2021: Based on the theme of Ayodhya- Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh, the tableau of UP secured first place. Tripura's tableau, which showed eco-friendly traditions for achieving self-reliance in socio-economic parameters bagged the second place while Uttarakhand got the third position for its tableau on the theme of 'Dev Bhoomi - The Land of the Gods'.

Republic Day 2020: Based on the theme 'Land of Unique Craftsmanship and Culture, the tableau of Assam won the prize of the best tableau. The tableaux of Odisha and Uttar Pradesh were adjudged as joint second best. The tableau of Odisha showed the Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj while the tableau of UP was based on the theme of 'Sarva Dharma Sama Bhav'. There was no third-position winner.

Republic Day 2019: The tableau of Tripura, based on 'Empowering Rural Economy the Gandhian Way', was declared the best. The second-best tableau was of Jammu and Kashmir while the tableau of Punjab, depicting the historical Jallianwala Bagh incident, got the third position.

Republic Day 2018: Maharashtra's tableau, depicting Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation, won the first prize. For depicting traditional masks and sastras, Assam's tableau got the second prize. The Tableau of Chattisgarh, showing Ramgarh's ancient amphitheatre and dance based on Kalidasa's 'Meghadootam', bagged the third spot.

Republic Day 2017: The tableau of Arunachal Pradesh, which showed the Yak dance of the Mahayana sect of Buddhist Tribes of the state, secured first place. Tripura's tableau based on 'Hojagiri' dance which depicted Reang tribal dance, got second place. The tableaux of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, depicting the commemoration of the 160th birth anniversary of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak and the popular folk dance 'Karagattam' respectively, were declared as joint-third best.

Republic Day 2016: West Bengal's tableau, which depicted Baul folk singers rendering the songs based on Bhakti and Sufi movement, got the first position. The tableau of Tripura, on Unakoti sculptures seen in a Shiva pilgrimage site, secured the second place while Assam's tableau on the Rongali Bihu festival got the third spot.

Republic Day 2015: The tableau of Maharashtra got the first position for showing "Wari to Pandharpur" (the pilgrimage to Pandharpur. Jharkhand's tableau on "Maluti Temples, got second place and a tableau of Karnataka based on Channapatna Toys bagged the third position.

Republic Day 2014: The tableau of West Bengal got first place for depicting Purulia Chhau Dance. The second position went to Tamil Nadu for the tableau on the Pongal festival. For showing the contribution of legendary folk singer Bhupen Hazarika to Assam's culture, the tableau of Assam secured the third position.
