As citizens of the country gear up to celebrate and commemorate India's 77th Independence Day, meticulous planning and heightened security measures have been put in place across the nation to ensure peaceful celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his 10th consecutive Independence Day address. Since his inaugural speech in 2014, during which he introduced transformative programs like Swachh Bharat and Jan Dhan accounts, PM Modi has consistently unveiled significant initiatives and engage with citizens on pressing matters from the platform.
Security Arrangements
A multi-layer security arrangement is in place across Delhi with more than 10,000 personnel manning the area in and around the historic Red Fort from where PM Modi will address the nation. Around 1,000 cameras with facial recognition and video analytic systems have been installed to ensure security and monitor VVIP movements.
Traffic movement around the Red Fort has also been restricted till the end of the celebrations.Elaborate security arrangements have been made, the exercise for which started around three-four months ago. Anti-terror activities have also been done to check the areas in the districts near the venue, Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa told news agency PTI.
This year’s Independence Day will culminate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, which were launched by the Prime Minister from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021. A number of new initiatives have been taken to celebrate the 77th Independence Day.
According to an official release from the Ministry of Defence, around 1,800 people from different vocations have been invited from across the country to be a part of the celebrations at the Red Fort as Special Guests in line with the Government’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’.
The special guests include Sarpanches, teachers, nurses, fishermen, Khadi workers, and construction workers of Central Vista among others.
Haryana Schools To Remain Closed On August 16, Announces CM Khattar
Government and private schools in Haryana will remain closed on Wednesday (August 16), the state government announced.
In a statement, Haryana's Assistant Director (Academic) For Director Secondary Education said, "On account of the celebrations of Independence Day on 15th August, all Government and Private Schools in Haryana shall remain closed tomorrow, 16th August."
