Diwali 2018: PM Narendra Modi's '5 years of Diwali celebration' with jawans since 2014

This year, PM Modi started his Diwali celebrations by visiting the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand where he performed puja and later reviewed the ongoing development work there.

Diwali 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted the entire nation and wished good health and prosperity to the citizens on the occasion of Diwali. The prime minister, earlier in the day, took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: “Happy Diwali! May this festival bring happiness, good health and prosperity in everyone’s lives. May the power of good and brightness always prevail!” This year, PM Modi started his Diwali celebrations by visiting the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand where he performed puja and later reviewed the ongoing development work there. While returning from the shrine, he also halted at the Harsil station to spend time with ITBP jawans and exchanged Diwali wishes. “Your devotion to duty in the remote icy heights is enabling the strength of the nation and securing the future and the dreams of 125 crore Indians,” PM Modi told the jawans. Every year in Diwali, since taking over as the prime minister of India, Modi celebrates this auspicious festival with Indian Army troops deployed in various parts of the country. This is for the fifth consecutive Diwali that PM Modi has decided to celebrate the prosperous festival with jawans. After meeting ITBS jawans in Uttarakhand, PM Modi left from Kedarnath. Here he lauded the soldiers for their sacrifice saying he considers them his family. Twitter) In 2016, PM Modi celebrated the festival of Diwali with jawans of the Indo Tibetan Border Police, Indian Army and Dogra Scouts in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. He then placed wreath at the venue of one of the toughest battles fought and won by Indian forces on September 22, 1965. Modi met the jawans posted at the world’s highest battlefield and hailed the role of the armed forces in securing the country. He had praised their valour and courage, saying that 125 crore Indians could celebrate Diwali, and go about their lives in comfort, because the jawans stood guard at the borders, prepared to make every sacrifice for the nation.
