Delhi Reports Over 1,100 Fresh Covid Cases, 2 Deaths In Last 24 Hrs. Maharashtra Logs 2,956 Infections

After a gap of over one month, Delhi's daily Covid-19 caseload breached the one-thousand mark on Tuesday with the capital city reporting as many as 1,118 fresh Coronavirus infections along with two deaths in the last 24 hours, a health department bulletin stated. With the new cases reported on Tuesday, Delhi tally of COVID-19 cases increased to 19,14,530 and the death toll stands at 26,223.

On Monday, the city had recorded 614 new Covid-19 cases and zero death due to the disease, while the positivity rate stood at 7.06 per cent. Meanwhile, 735 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths were reported in Delhi on Sunday. 

In Maharashtra, 2,956 new Covid-19 infections were recorded in the last 24 hours. The state also witnessed 2165 recoveries and 4 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to latest report of NIV Pune, 2 more patients of BA.5 variants found in Thane city. They were found infected on 28 amd 30 May and recovered in home isolation.

Active cases in Maharashtra now stands at 18,267.

Nationwide a marginal dip in daily caseload was reported in the country with 6,594 fresh Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, against the 8,084 infections registered the previous day. In the same period, there were six new fatalities, which increased the overall death toll to 5,24,777.

The active caseload rose to 50,548, accounting for 0.12 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 4,035 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,26,61,370. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.67 per cent.

As of Tuesday morning, India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 195.35 crore, achieved via 2,50,79,283 sessions. Over 3.52 crore adolescents have been administered with a first dose of Covid-19 jab since the beginning of vaccination drive for this age bracket.
