The Majlis Park – Maujpur corridor is an extension of the Pink Line and has been assigned the same colour code while the Janakpuri West – RK Ashram Marg corridor has been assigned the Magenta colour as it will be an extension of the Magenta line only.
Mangu Singh, the DMRC MD reportedly approved the new colour on Wednesday. It is necessary to differentiate all the Metro corridors for easy identification. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had decided to colour code its corridors to help commuters remember the routes easily. There is no specific rule to decide the colour code of a line.
The lines built under Phase 1 were all coded using primary colours, under phase 2 , secondary colours were used and in Phase 3, mix of primary and secondary colours i.e tertiary colours were used.
