Delhi Metro's Adds 'Silver Line': Know All About The Aerocity-Tughlaqabad Corridor

DMRC had started the work on the Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor in August. The Silver Line will have 15 stations.

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced new line numbers and colour codes of three corridors of Phase IV of the metro extension project as per which, the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor has been christened as 'Silver Line'. This will be the 10th corridor of the network so it will also be called Line 10. Tughlakabad - Aerocity (line 10) will be Silver Line, Majlis Park - Maujpur (line 7) is Pink Line Extension & Janakpuri West - RK Ashram (line 8) is Magenta Line Extension."
The Majlis Park – Maujpur corridor is an extension of the Pink Line and has been assigned the same colour code while the Janakpuri West – RK Ashram Marg corridor has been assigned the Magenta colour as it will be an extension of the Magenta line only. Mangu Singh, the DMRC MD reportedly approved the new colour on Wednesday. It is necessary to differentiate all the Metro corridors for easy identification. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had decided to colour code its corridors to help commuters remember the routes easily. There is no specific rule to decide the colour code of a line. The lines built under Phase 1 were all coded using primary colours, under phase 2 , secondary colours were used and in Phase 3, mix of primary and secondary colours i.e tertiary colours were used. According to the reports, 61.679-km of new metro lines shall be constructed across three different corridors comprising 45 metro stations under the Phase-4. Of this, the Aerocity-Tughlaqabad corridor will be a 22 km long passage that will connect the Airport Express Line with the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli-HUDA City Centre) and the Violet Line (Kashmere Gate Raja Nahar Singh, Ballabhgarh).
