Delhi Metro's New Year Gift!!!! Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 corridor of Pink line fully operational
The new line is part of the 59-km-long Pink Line, which extends from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The passenger services on the 9.7-km-long corridor began from 4 pm on December 31st 2018.
New Delhi: Union Minister of State with Independent Charge, Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the 9.7-km Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 corridor of the Delhi Metro's Pink Line on Monday.
This line directly connects south and east Delhi on the rapid transit network. The new line is part of the 59-km-long Pink Line, which extends from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The passenger services on the 9.7-km-long corridor began from 4 pm on December 31st 2018.
A total of 29 trains will be operational on 9.2-km-long line. The corridor directly connects south and east Delhi, cutting down the time taken to travel between these areas to 15 minutes. T
This extension of the Pink Line, part of the Phase-III of the DMRC network, was inaugurated jointly by Puri and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia from Metro Bhawan.
The line was opened for public at 4 pm in the evening on New Year's Eve. The new stretch has the following six stations:
1. Lajpat Nagar
2. Vinobapuri
3. Ashram
4. Hazrat Nizamuddin
5. Mayur Vihar-1
6. Mayur Vihar Pocket-1
The fare of travelling from Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 is Rs 30, while the cost of covering the entire distance from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar is Rs 40. As of now, only a 1.4-km stretch between Mayur Vihar Pocket-I and Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake remains to be linked.
