Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Stands By Satyendra Jain, Says Case Against Minister 'Completely Fake'

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal while speaking to the media called the case against the Health Minister completely false.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday came out in support of Health Minister Satyendar Jain by terming the case filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as "completely fake". While speaking to the media, the CM said that he has personally read the AAP leader's case and found that it has no merit, and is "politically motivated", reported news agency ANI.

Speaking further, Kejriwal asserted that the AAP-led government is very honest and they “neither tolerate corruption nor do corruption”. The CM said that Satyendar Jain has been targeted for political reasons and he has complete faith in the judicial system of the country.

"I have studied the case against Jain. It is completely fake and motivated by political reasons. We have faith in the judiciary. Jain is following the path of truth, and he will come out clean," the chief minister told the media, as reported by ANI.

Kejriwal said that AAP is committed to weeding out corruption, which is why his party in Punjab took action against the health minister of the state after corruption charges were levelled against him.

"Nobody knew about it, no minister, none of the central agencies nor the media. We could have kept it under the rug if they wanted," said the CM.

“We don’t wait for any agency, we take action ourselves, many actions taken by Central agencies are influenced by politics”, he told the media adding that Satyendra Jain’s case is completely false and he has been caught in a “political web”. Kejriwal said that he believes in the judicial system, and Jain will be released soon.

On Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had also said a "fake case" was being run against Satyendar Jain for 8 years. "ED called many times before and stopped for many years in between as they couldn't find anything. Now, it's started again as he's poll in-charge of Himachal Pradesh...He will be released in few days as case is bogus," Sisodia tweeted.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a case related to hawala transactions of a Kolkata-based company. The minister was taken into custody under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Last month, assets worth Rs 4.81 crore of the family and companies "beneficially owned and controlled" by Jain were provisionally attached by ED.
