COVID Tally: New Coronavirus Cases In Delhi Dip To 5,760. Mumbai Reports 1,857 Fresh Infections

The number of daily cases in the national capital has been declining after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.

New Delhi: Both Delhi and Mumbai have continued to see a decline in the Coronavirus cases as the cities reported 5,760 and 1,857 new infections respectively on Monday.

The national capital on Monday reported 5,760 new COVID cases and 30 deaths, while the positivity rate dropped to 11.79 per cent

Delhi had on Sunday reported 9,197 COVID cases and 34 deaths with a positivity rate of 13.32 per cent.

The number of daily cases in the national capital has been declining after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. In 10 days, the cases have dropped below the 10,000-mark.

Delhi on Saturday recorded 45 deaths due to Coronavirus, the highest since June 5, as well as 11,486 cases with a positivity rate of 16.36 per cent.

On Friday, the city logged 10,756 cases with a positivity rate of 18.04 per cent and 38 deaths.

As many as 543 people have succumbed to COVID in the national capital so far in January. 

Meanwhile, 1,4836 recovered patients were reported on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,72,6681.

Mumbai's Recovery Rate At 96%

Mumbai on Monday reported 1,857 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally of infections to 10,36,690. The death toll rose to 16,546 after 11 more patients succumbed to the infection.

A statement by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s health department informed that 84 per cent or 1,560 of the 1,857 new patients are asymptomatic. On the other hand, 234 more patients were hospitalised of whom 56 are on oxygen support.

A total of 503 patients were discharged in the financial capital on Sunday, taking the number of recoveries to 9,96,289.

Mumbai currently has 21,142 active cases.

Mumbai's recovery rate remains to be 96 per cent. The case doubling rate is 144 days.
