Coronavirus LIVE, Thursday, June 3, 2021: In a bid to make the rural areas Coronavirus free, the Maharashtra government has come up with an interesting initiative. The State Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif said, "Corona-free village competitions will be held in Maharashtra to encourage steps to curb the spread of COVID-19. Three village panchayats will be awarded for doing good work in COVID-19 management in each revenue division. The first prize will be Rs 50 lakhs, second Rs 25 lakhs and third Rs 15 lakhs"
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna has started the paediatric trials for the Covid-19 vaccine- Covaxin, manufactured by Bharat Biotech. The EU has delayed putting the UK on a ‘white list’ of countries from where non-essential travel is approved amid concerns of rise in cases linked to the Delta variant.
Covaxin received the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) nod to conduct clinical trials in children on May 11. “Covaxin has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), for Phase II/III clinical trials in the age group of 2 to 18 years.”

A total of 17 pilots of Air India, IndiGo and Vistara died due to COVID-19 in May when the country witnessed the peak of the coronavirus pandemic's second wave. IndiGo lost 10 pilots and Vistara two, aviation industry sources stated.

Bengal Reports 108 More Covid Deaths, 8,811 Fresh Cases
West Bengal's Covid-19 death toll rose to 15,921 after 108 more people succumbed to the disease on Thursday, the state health department said in a bulletin. The tally went up to 14,03,535 after 8,811 new cases of infection were reported, it added.
Gujarat Records 1,207 New Coronavirus Cases; 3,018 Recoveries
Gujarat recorded 1,207 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of cases to 8,13,270, the state health department said on Thursday evening.
The death toll reached 9,890 after 17 more patients succumbed to the infection, including four in Ahmedabad and three in Surat district.
Maharashtra Records 15, 229 New Cases, 307 Deaths In Last 24 Hours
Maharashtra has recorded as many as 15,229 new cases of Coronavirus infections 307 deaths and 25,617 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The overall recovery rate in the state is 94.73 per cent and there are 2,04,974 active cases at the moment.
