Congress to meet CVC today to complain against alleged corruption in Rafale deal

New Delhi: A group comprising of senior Congress leaders is set to meet Central Vigilance Commissioner over alleged corruption in Rafale deal. The government is also seeking Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in the case. This comes after Congress met Comptroller and Auditor General last week. Party had requested to make a report on the alleged irregularities in the deal and thereafter to present it in the parliament. On the other hand, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has defended PM Modi on the Rafale issue, saying the French government and Dassault Aviation have categorically denied the correctness of the former president's first statement. He said the French government has stated that the “decision with regard to the offset contracts of Dassault Aviation is taken by the company and not the government”. "This puts to rest the controversy which is sought to be created on the basis of a statement made by the former French president Hollande," he said. Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday escalated his attack on the Narendra Modi government saying it is time the prime minister, the finance minister and the defence minister "stop lying" and call for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe for an "uncorrupted truth" to come out.

Taking on FM Jaitley, Gandhi while referring him as "Mr. Jetlie", accused him of having the ability to spin "2 truths or lies" with "fake self-righteousness" and "indignation to defend the indefensible".
