‘Probe By CBI, ED, NIA’ — Uddhav Thackeray’s PS Gets A ‘Warning’ On WhatsApp
CM Uddhav Thackeray's personal secretary Milind Narvekar recently received a threatening WhatsApp message warning him of a probe against him by CBI, ED, NIA or other central government agency.
New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's personal secretary Milind Narvekar recently received a threatening WhatsApp message warning him of a probe against him by agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate and the National Investigations Agency.
A senior official on condition of anonymity said that Narvekar received WhatsApp message from an unknown phone number which made some demands. He threatened that if Narvekar does not fulfill the demands, then investigation will be done against him by CBI, ED, NIA or other central government agency and he will be implicated.
According to sources, Narvekar has complained about this to Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale, after which the matter has been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for investigation.
The officials investigating the matter suspect that the WhatsApp number used for sending the threat message must be a virtual number used via an application. Sources said that the authorities have asked the mobile company for information about the number. Efforts are being made to find out the culprit behind this.
Various leaders of the MVA have mentioned earlier that rival political parties often use the name of central agencies to threaten people holding key posts in the government.
Earlier on Thursday, the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch had arrested three people. The Accused disguised as Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, allegedly called Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM of Maharashtra and talked about transfer posting.
