CM Arvind Kejriwal To Unveil Covid-Hit Economy Revival Plan Soon; Will Focus On Generating More Employment

Witnessing improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is gearing up to unveil a series of initiatives for the revival of city's lockdown-hit economy.

Delhi was hit by a sharp first wave of Coronavirus pandemic, which confined people to their homes, closed businesses and forced a drastic change in the economy. However, witnessing improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is gearing up to take a step further and announce a series of initiatives for the revival of city's lockdown-hit economy. Delhi To Witness Heavy Rain From July 27; FIR Against Anyone Trying To Cross Minto Bridge During Waterlogging According to the reports, CM Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party government has received several suggestions from economists and representatives from trade and industry on the basis of which, it is chalking out a detailed plan for economic revival of the national capital. A PTI report quoted Labour and Employment Minister Gopal Rai as saying, "As the COVID-19 situation is improving in Delhi, focus will now be on getting the economy and people's livelihood back on track. The AAP government will launch a special programme to generate more employment opportunities in the city." The minister added that CM Kejriwal will launch a platform which will allow people to access information about the job hunt. The job portal will enable the companies looking to hire people and job seekers to register themselves. Recently, the Delhi government had formed a panel consisting of 12 experts who explored various strategies and measures for economic reform in order to help businesses recover from the impact of COVID-19. The 12-member panel, which studies a comprehensive research, has now put forward several suggestions regarding measures that should be initiated by various departments, autonomous bodies, local bodies and the municipal corporations to help people and businesses during the pandemic. Of these, more than 1,13,068 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital while 3,806 people succumbed to the deadly disease. A detailed analysis of deaths due to COVID-19 in Delhi carried out by the Health Department, Government of NCT Delhi (GNCTD), for the period 1-12 June and 1-12 July has revealed a 44 per cent decline in deaths – from 1089 during 1-12 June to 605 during 1-12 July.
