No New Liquor Shops In Chhattisgarh As CM Vishnu Deo Sai-Led Cabinet Approves New Policy

Chhattisgarh Govt decided that no new liquor shops will be opened in the state as Vishnu Deo Sai-led cabinet gave a nod for the proposal.

New Delhi: No new liquor shops will be opened in Chhattisgarh as a decision has been taken in this regard by the Chhattisgarh cabinet. The cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, gave its approval to the excise policy for the financial year 2024-25 during a meeting at Mantralaya in Nava Raipur on Wednesday. According to PTI, the cabinet meeting, which extended late into the evening, saw Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao confirming the approval of the Chhattisgarh Excise Policy 2024-25, emphasising the resolution against the establishment of additional liquor shops in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Sao also noted that the cabinet sanctioned the draft of the Governor's address for the second session (budget session) of the new legislative assembly. The upcoming budget session is scheduled to commence on February 5. Additionally, the cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2024, slated for presentation in the assembly for the budget estimate year 2024-25, he informed, as per PTI.

The meeting also saw approval for the draft of the Governor's address for the second session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh, covering the period of February-March 2024.

Notably, the cabinet also granted approval for the draft of the Chhattisgarh Civil Court (Amendment) Bill-2024. This amendment introduces changes to designations, such as renaming 'District Judge' to 'Chief District Judge' and 'Additional District Judge' to 'District Judge'. Similarly, designations like 'Civil Judge First Class' and 'Civil Judge Second Class' have been replaced with 'Civil Judge Senior Category' and 'Civil Judge Junior Category', respectively. Moreover, 'District Court' has been changed to 'Chief District Court', according to the statements provided by the Deputy Chief Minister.
