Chennai Air Show 2024: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to commemorate its 92nd Air Force Day on October 8, 2024, with a grand celebration in Chennai, showcasing the nation's air defense prowess. This year’s theme, 'Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar' (Indian Air Force: Capable, Strong, and Self-reliant), underscores the IAF's commitment to national security, self-reliance, and modernisation efforts.
Preparations for the celebration are well underway, with a full dress rehearsal currently being conducted ahead of a spectacular airshow on October 6 at Marina Beach. Seventy-two aircraft, ranging from the IAF’s oldest to its most modern fighter jets and helicopters, will take part in aerobatic displays and flypasts, offering the public a thrilling demonstration of India's aerial capabilities.

It revealed that the two-hour spectacle on October 6 will feature impressive aerial drills and demonstrations of India's air power. Rehearsals began on October 4 with a special flypast planned for October 6. The grand finale on October 8 will mark the official Air Force Day celebrations, as the IAF continues to uphold its legacy of excellence and strength.
Meanwhile, IIT Delhi and Headquarters Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force, Nagpur, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developing advanced technologies for aviation textiles, with a focus on parachutes and other safety gear. This partnership aims to foster cooperation in research and development, targeting areas such as obsolescence management, self-reliance, modernisation, and digitisation through the indigenization of aviation-grade textiles.
