In episode 5 of 'Business Blasters' show, a team from Govt Boys Senior Secondary School in Jharoda Kalan presented 'Safe Kitchen', a gas leakage alarm developed with the seed money given by Delhi govt
New Delhi: With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government launching its ‘Business Blasters’ programme, students of Delhi schools have shown they are full of innovative ideas that can make them successful entrepreneurs.
As part of this programme, around 3 lakh students of Class XI and XII from Delhi government-run schools created nearly 51,000 teams and submitted as many business ideas.
The programme is aimed at grooming young entrepreneurs at the school level.
In episode 5 of the start-up show, 'Business Blasters', the students of Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Jharoda Kalan put forth their ideas before Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Gil Connections founder Ravi Gupta and Momzjoy co-founder Divya Gupta.
A nine-member team of this school developed a gas leakage alarm, “Safe Kitchen”, with the seed money provided by the Delhi government under this initiative.
Aman, the team leader, came up with this idea to ensure there are no problems related to gas leakage.
“The name of our start-up is ‘Safe Kitchen’. Our tagline is ‘catch is attention not flame’…We often read about gas related accidents in newspapers. We live in slum areas and gas related accidents take there as well,” said Aman.
The members of this team, who live in slum areas, are elated that their low-price product can be easily afforded by the middle and lower income group families.
“This alarm is there in the market, but the price varies from Rs 1,500 to 8,000. Hence, the lower middle class families cannot afford it,” said Aman.
“The price of our product is Rs 700. We have spent Rs 596 in developing this product,” he added.
Throwing light on his product, Aman said: “Suppose gas leakage takes place, the senser will detect the same and there will be an alarm.”
“We are now working on upgrading our product. We received feedback during our interaction with the people. So, we have planned to fix a battery as well in our product in the upgrade version,” he added.
Om, who works as a technician and also looks after account, said they plan to carry forward this business and are currently eyeing more investments.
“We are promoting our product through social media to increase the sales. The nearby shops have also placed their orders for this product. We had sent our demo piece to IGL. They liked it and asked us to send them 50 pieces. We also ensured from them the safety of our product. They did proper testing and told us that this product is safe,” he added.
Prateek, who looks after social media and sales, said they have pipeline orders and will look after profits after completing them.
“We will sell our product in the price range of Rs 1,000 to 1,300 after upgradation,” he added.
The alarm is available for Rs 700 in the market. Seven alarms have already been sold and 24 orders have been made.
The team received Rs 40,000 fund from the Momzjoy co-founder plus assistance in packaging the product, while another Rs 40,000 was given by Gil Connections founder.
