CWC Meet Today To Approve Schedule For Congress Presidential Poll
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet today to approve the schedule of dates for the election of the next party president. This comes in the backdrop of party veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad's shock resignation Friday.
Sources said besides giving approval to the polls schedule, the members of the CWC, the party's highest decision-making body, could also express confidence in the leadership provided by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
This would be significant in the context of Azad's resignation and criticism of the leadership.
Noida Twin Towers All Set To Be Demolished Today
The stage is set for the safe demolition of Supertech's twin towers here on Sunday, in what is expected to be a breathtaking spectacle of engineering to raze down the nearly 100-metre-tall structures borne out of corruption. Only last minute inspections remain as the towers - taller than Delhi's iconic Qutub Minar - will be brought down in less than 15 seconds by waterfall implosion technique.
"All arrangements have been made and preparations done for the safe demolition of the twin towers as per schedule at 2.30 pm tomorrow," Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari told PTI. Over 3,700 kg explosives will be used to bring down the structures in pursuance of a Supreme Court order that found their construction within the Emerald Court society premises in violation of norms," officials told PTI news.
Mobile Internet Suspended In Assam Today For Exam In Govt Depts
Mobile internet services in several districts of Assam will be suspended for four hours for the second time this month on Sunday for conducting free and fair written examination for grade III posts of various government departments.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC have also been clamped near the examination centres to further strengthen security measures. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday reviewed the preparations.
Mobile internet services had been suspended on August 21 in 25 districts of the state when the written examination for grade IV posts was held in two shifts of two hours each to ensure that candidates do not indulge in cheating through electronic devices.
