Pramod Sawant will return as the Chief Minister of Goa for a second term, said Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday.
"Vishwajit Rane proposed the name of Pramod Sawant as the leader of the Legislative Party. Everyone unanimously elected Sawant as the leader. He will be the leader of the Legislative Party for the next 5 years," ANI quoted Tomar as saying.
On the other hand, Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to return as Uttarakhand's Chief Minister after he was elected as the leader of the state BJP legislature party. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on March 23.
Dhami's name was finalised at the BJP legislative party meeting that was attended by BJP's central observers for Uttarakhand Rajnath Singh, Meenakshi Lekhi and the party's poll in-charge for the state Pralhad Joshi.
Meanwhile, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, conferred the Padma Awards at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I which was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad received Padma Bhushan Awards by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday in the field of Public Affairs. While, daughters of former CDS General Bipin Rawat, Kritika and Tarini received his Padma Vibhushan award (posthumous) from President Kovind.
China's Plane Crash
On Monday, China's Boeing 737 aircraft, which had taken off from Kunming and was headed for Guangzhou, crashed in Tengxian County in the city of Wuzhou, causing a mountain fire. The plane was carrying 123 passengers and 9 flight crew members.
After the tragic incident, the DGCA has placed the Boeing 737 fleets of Indian carriers under "enhanced surveillance".
SpiceJet, Vistara, and Air India Express are three Indian airlines that have Boeing 737 aircraft in their fleets, news agency PTI reported.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief Arun Kumar told PTI that it was taking "a number of initiatives" in the aftermath of Monday's tragedy.
Russia-Ukraine Conflict
US President Joe Biden has added a stop in Poland for urgent talks with NATO and European allies, as Russian forces concentrate their fire upon cities and trapped civilians in a nearly month-old invasion of Ukraine.
Biden will first travel to Brussels and then to Poland on Friday to meet with leaders there, press secretary Jen Psaki informed in a statement, as reported by The Associated Press (AP).
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began about a month ago, an estimated 6.5 million people have been displaced within the nation, while another 3.2 million have fled owing to safety concerns.

US Lawmakers Urge Biden To Get Pilots From India, Other Nations For Humanitarian Aid To Ukraine
A group of 20 eminent American lawmakers on Tuesday urged US President Joe Biden to reach out to countries like India, Brazil, Egypt and the UAE to hire pilots for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine as Russia considers them non-hostile.
