Eye On Dalit Voters, BJP To Launch Nationwide 'Ghar Ghar Jodo' Campaign On Ambedkar Jayanti

With an eye on Dalit & SC vote share across the country, the BJP will launch a nationwide 'Ghar Ghar Jodo' campaign to gain community support. The campaign will launch on Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14).

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a massive campaign across the country to gain support from Dalits and Scheduled Castes. According to sources familiar with the development, the campaign will be called 'Ghar Ghar Jodo' and will run from April 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti) to May 5 (Budh Jayanti).

During this period (April 14 to May 5), BJP leaders will travel across the country to Dalit settlements. According to sources, the party intends to target 17 per cent of voters (Dalit community) across the country.

The campaign aims to give Dalit families who were previously denied access to government programme benefits access to those benefits. A large event will be held at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium to mark the end of the campaign. According to sources, PM Modi may address the Dalit community during the programme.

This comes a day after union minister and BJP leader Ramdas Athawale said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win more than 350 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats in 2024.

Athawale, a popular Dalit leader, urged Dalits and Muslims to vote for the NDA, citing the BSP's "downfall" under Mayawati. "Welfare works are being undertaken for all sections of society, including Dalits, backwards, and Muslims, under the Modi government at the national level and the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh... Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of India's Constitution, envisioned an all-inclusive society in India, which is now becoming a reality under the Modi government," as per a report by Hindustan Times.

According to the report, the Union minister also attacked the Congress party and called Rahul Gandhi's recent 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' "insignificant". He also accused Congress of stalling development for the past 70 years. "The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has done a lot of development work for all sections of society, whether Dalit, Muslim, backward, OBC, tribals, or traders. I appeal to Muslims and Dalits in Uttar Pradesh to vote for the RPI and the BJP. They have nothing to gain by sticking with Mayawati because her downfall is consistent," he added.
