The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister has warned the local administration to shut the liquor shop in Barkheda Pathani area of Bhopal within a week as it is "against the government's policy".
Taking to twitter, Uma Bharti shared the video and wrote in Hindi, "There are several liquor shops in labourers colony at Barkheda Pathani area, where liquor is served. The money of these labourers is drained out buying liquor from these shops. The residents and women have objected and protested demanding shops to be removed as it is against the government's policy. The administration had given assurances several times in the past that it would close the shop, but this has not happened for many years."
"Today, I gave a warning to the administration to get it closed in a week," she further added.
The government, however, does not seem to pay much attention to the demands of the BJP leader. Last year Bharati had announced that she would have alcohol banned in the state by Januray 15, but a new excise policy was immediately announced by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan making alcohol cheaper.
Excise duty on foreign liquor was also reduced by 10-13 per cent, while people are now allowed to keep four times as much liquor at home than before, reported NDTV website.
