BJP Leader Manikanta Rathod, MLA Booked For 'Murder' For Giving 'Death Threat' To Kharge
"As one of the accused, Madan Dilawar, is a sitting MLA, the matter will be investigated by the CB-CID," said Kumar, who is also the investigating officer in the case.
Rajasthan Police has charged Manikanta Rathod, a BJP candidate in the next Karnataka assembly election, and local BJP MLA Madan Dilawar with murder and criminal intimidation for their statements against Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, according to a senior official, news agency PTI reported.
The FIR has been lodged at Sanjay Circle Police Station in response to a complaint submitted by Congress state secretary Ram Singh Kaswan.
An FIR has been issued against BJP Ramganj Mandi MLA Madan Dilawar and Manikanta Rathod, a BJP candidate in the next Karnataka assembly election, according to Kotwali ACP Narendra Kumar.
"As one of the accused, Madan Dilawar, is a sitting MLA, the matter will be investigated by the CB-CID," said Kumar, who is also the investigating officer in the case.
The two males have been charged under IPC sections 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), and sections of the SC/ST Act, according to the FIR.
Kaswan stated in his lawsuit that committing a crime is not required; merely planning a plot is sufficient.
On May 6, the Congress Party uploaded an audio clip of Manikanta Rathod, the BJP candidate from the Chittapur seat in Kalaburagi district, declaring in Kannada that he will eliminate "Kharge, his wife, and children." According to the Association for Democratic Reforms, a poll-reform organisation, the BJP candidate has been identified in 40 police cases and has only completed eighth grade.
According to the Congress, in response to Kharge's "poisnous snake" statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP state general secretary Madan Dilawar claimed that even though Kharge is 80 years old, he would "pray to God not to take him away for at least 200 years." In the same case, the Uttarakhand Congress has filed a police report against Rathod.
The party's Mathura Dutt Joshi said the party filed a case against Rathod in Dehradun Kotwali on Sunday for allegedly disparaging Kharge.
According to Uttarakhand Congress head Karan Mahra, who filed the complaint, the BJP knows it will lose in Karnataka, which is why its candidates are acting like "goons."
