Bihar: Will Give Bumper Jobs To Poor & Youth Within A Month, Says Dy CM Tejashwi Yadav

Ending the coalition with the BJP, Nitish Kumar took an oath as Bihar's Chief Minister on Wednesday.

New Delhi: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who took oath as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister on Wednesday, said the change of guard in his state has set a template for the Opposition to rise above the differences and galvanise against the BJP ahead of the next general elections in 2024, news agency ANI reported. The statement comes a day after Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar severed ties with the saffron party and staked claim to form the government with support of rainbow alliance, including the RJD and the Congress.

“Bihar did what country needs to do. We've shown them a way. Our fight has been against unemployment. Our CM felt pain of poor and youth. We'll give bumper jobs within one month to poor and youth, it'll be something so grand that its never happened before,” ANI quoted Yadav as saying.

“Mahagathbandhan is so strong that BJP would be only one left for opposition in Vidhan Sabha... Difficult decision taken by CM Nitish Kumar is a decision which was needed. Communal tensions were being spread by BJP, they were trying to kill regional parties,” the Deputy CM further added.

Meanwhile, in the JD(U) meeting on Tuesday, all MLAs and MPs of the party supported CM Nitish Kumar's decision of parting way with the ruling alliance involving BJP and said that they are with him. They said that they will always be with him, whatever he may decide, ANI reported.

Many JD(U) MLAs and MLCs told the Chief Minister in the meeting that their present alliance is trying to weaken them since 2020. Without naming Chirag Paswan, they said he was one such example; also said they if they're not alert now, it won't be good for the party, ANI reported sources as saying.

Notably, ending the coalition with the BJP, Nitish Kumar took an oath as Bihar's Chief Minister on Wednesday. Tejashwi Yadav was also administered oath by Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan, as he became the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar's Chief Minister for the eighth time in a span of 22 years.
