Bihar Elections Results 2020: JDU-BJP Leading In 126 Seats, MGB In 107 As RJD Confident Of Late Night Miracle
The counting of votes for the 243-seat legislative assembly began at 8 AM in the morning with the counting of postal ballots. 52000 votes have been cast through postal ballots in the elections. As per the Election Commission, almost 1 crore electoral ballots had been counted after six hours.
Patna: The counting of votes for the highly-anticipated Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 is still underway. As per the Elections Commission till 2 PM, 1/3 of the total votes cast were counted and the trends are now favoring the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) cornering the opinion poll predictions of Tejaswi Yadav-led Grand Alliance winning. The counting of votes for the 243-seat legislative assembly began at 8 AM in the morning with the counting of postal ballots. 52000 votes have been cast through postal ballots in the elections. As per the Election Commission, almost 1 crore electoral ballots had been counted after six hours.
While the trends that came around 9 AM in the morning showed a lead for the Grand Alliance, with NDA forward at 109, Grand Alliance positioning forward with 122, LJP with 7, and Others with just 2 seats. The gap for the Grand Alliance widened as the day moved forward.
As per the latest trends that came around 4 PM, EC declared the first result of polls, as RJD's Lalit Yadav won the Darbhanga Rural seat. While NDA has been leading on 127 seats with BJP ahead on 76, JDU 43, VIP 5, HAM 3, and Grand Alliance leading on 106 with RJD bagging 69 (1 seat won) seats, Congress 19 and Left 18.
Meanwhile, Tejaswi Yadav who is spearheading the Grand Alliance sent a message from his house to the workers and leaders of his party claiming his win. He has also asked his supporters and workers not to let down their excitement go down.
NDA on the other hand, with every passing minute, JDU and BJP supporters are seen making claims of being confident of forming a new government in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
"We are a disciplined party that works well under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. He has taken Bihar on the path of progress. We knew that the results will come in our favor and the trend so far has been according to our expectations," Sanjay Singh, spokesperson of JDU.

The ruling NDA's partner JDU, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was till 4 p.m. leading on 49 seats with its partners Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) on five seats and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha's (HAM) on two, while BJP making a big leap has been leading on 73 seats.
BJP and its ally JDU's key rival opposition RJD which has won the first seat was leading on 63 seats taking the Grand Alliance's count to 103. By securing 20 seats, the Congress is at fourth position in major political parties in Bihar and second in the Grand Alliance.
The grand old party is followed by three left partners' that lead on 18 seats -- the Communist Party of India Marxist-Leninist (Liberation) (13) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) on three seats each.
While the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation believes that along with CPI and CPI-M, it has brought about a re-emergence of Left politics in Bihar as per Assembly polls result in trends, it claims that the Grand Alliance could have fared better had the Left parties been allotted more seats.
While the BJP-led NDA fielded candidates on 121 seats, the Nitish Kumar-led party contested on 122 seats.

It is worth mentioning that the results are mostly from the counting of the postal ballots and EVMs simultaneously at 1,06,515 polling stations across the state. However, the counting of around 3 crore ballots is still pending.
Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party seems to be losing space as it declined to just one seat in leading trends from five, which was noted at 4 AM in the evening, followed by Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) (4) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on two seats. Four Independent candidates were leading at different seats in the state.
Counting of votes got underway in the morning for the three-phase Bihar Assembly elections that may herald a new era in state politics, with exit polls predicting a victory for the RJD-led Grand Alliance.
The magic number for the winner is 122 in the 243-seat Assembly. The JDU-led NDA and the RJD-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) are the main contenders.
As elections ended last week, exit polls unanimously predicted a clear edge for the Grand Alliance led by RJD's Tejashwi Yadav.
However, the final results will come tonight after the counting of 57.09 percent ballots as the voters have exercised their franchise and locked the future of thousands of candidates in ballot boxes in the three-phase Assembly elections in the state that were held on October 28, November 3 and November 7.
