Bihar Elections 2020: Congress Releases 'Badlav Patr 2020'; Promises To 'Reject' Centre's Farm Laws If Voted To Power

Congress has released its manifesto ahead of Bihar Elections 2020. It focuses on farmers, education and employment. The party has committed that if voted to power they will repeal highly debated farm laws in the state.

Patna: The Congress party has released its manifesto titled 'Badlav Patr 2020' for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala and All India Congress Committee (AICC) Bihar in-charge Shakti Sinh Gohil presented the vision document at the event. ALSO READ | Bihar Elections 2020: 'Bihar Set To Be Ruined If Nitish Is Given One More Chance,' Chirag Attacks CM Kumar At LJP Manifesto Release Farmers The Congress manifesto promises loan waiver for farmers, it commits to provide them a 50 percent subsidy in the electricity bill of up to 100 Units. It also stated that it will not implement the union government's farm laws in the state if voted to power. "If our government comes to power in Bihar, we'll reject NDA government's Farm Laws by bringing separate state Farm Bills as we did in Punjab," Shaktisinh Gohil said. The manifesto also promises financial aid under the Rajiv Gandhi Krishi Nyaya Yojna for farmers who cultivate up to 2 acres of land. Trying their hand at regional appeal Congress stated it will have Maithili language to be included in the compulsory subject school syllabus. Employment The manifesto commits to providing employment for youth and Rs 1500 monthly allowance to the unemployed. The party stated that it will restore 2.42 lakh teacher posts in 18 months. Mazdoor Information Center will be set up in all state capitals to help migrant labourers, who have suffered the worst during the Covid-19 lockdown. Congress, CPI, CPM are part of the grand alliance/Mahagathbandhan under the leadership of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Bihar assembly elections for 243 seats will be held in three phases: October 28, November 3 and November 7. The results will be declared on November 10.
