Big Boost To Indian Army! Troops Get Latest SiG Sauer Rifles, ATV On China Border

The Indian Army has finally got rid of the INSAS rifles which have been replaced by Sig Sauer 716 assault rifles.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing dispute with China over the boundary issue, the Indian Army on Friday has provided the latest Sig Sauer assault rifles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to soldiers posted in North Sikkim.

After fighting terrorists and enemies with the help of INSAS rifles for many years, the army now has the latest Sig Sauer 716 assault rifle.

From Line of Actual Control (LAC), Line of Control (LoC), these rifles have been provided to the soldiers deployed in many areas affected by terrorism. These rifles are also being used in the ongoing exercise 'Dustlik' with Uzbekistan.

SIG-716 is manufactured by the American company 'Sig Sauer'. This company is known for making the best rifles in the world. SIG-716 is made available for counter-insurgency operations including LOC, LAC. The Indian Army has been generally using AK-47. Apart from this, INSAS was also used for a long time. Terrorists in Kashmir have already been using AK-47 which has a range of 300 meters.

INSAS may have a range of 400 meters but it cannot be trusted. Its 5.56mm caliber would injure the enemy, causing death when fired from very close range. As a result, the terrorists continued to fight despite being hit by several bullets. The US military faced the same problem against the Taliban. After this, the development of a new type of assault rifle began.

Earlier, in a video posted on the social media platform, Twitter, a soldier from the legendary 13 Kumaon explains the Army’s brand new Sig Sauer 716 assault rifles used in the Dustlik exercise with Uzbekistan.

The Sig Sauer 716 is designed to fire 7.62 x 51mm rounds. Its range is 600 meters, which is twice that of the AK-47, that is, terrorists can be targeted without going close to them. It has a short-stroke piston-driven operating system, which results in less shock to the operator, which means that the accuracy is increased. It also gets M1913 military standard rails on which night vision devices, torches, or any other device as per mission requirement can be mounted.
