The month of May has brought a bunch of holidays with it. Banks across different states in India will be closed for 11 days this month. Last month the banks were closed for a total of 15 days. Banks are open on the first and third Saturdays every month, while the second and fourth Saturdays are bank holidays.
This month banks will observe holidays in lieu of many festivals including Buddha Purnima, Maharana Pratap Jayanti, and Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary. The bank branches will remain closed on holidays, however, the customers can make transactions through online modes as usual as the mobile and Internet services will be functional.
Customers who are planning to visit their respective banks this month must check the bank holidays calander. It is pertinent to note that the bank holidays in each state will depend upon the list of holidays released by the Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) on its official website.

In the month of April, the banks closed for around half a moth due to several festivals. It was the third month in this year when the banks were shut for fifteen days as earlier the same happened in January and February. As annual closing of bank accounts took place on the first day of April, the banks in most states were closed on April 1.
