Arvind Kejriwal To Stay In ED Custody As Court Extends Remand Till April 1

A Delhi Court on Thursday extended Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's remand till April 1.

A Delhi Court on Thursday extended Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's remand till April 1. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) while seeking an extention of his remand stated that data in Arvind Kejriwal's wife's mobile phone has been extracted and is being analysed. However, data from the other 4 digital devices seized during search at Arvind Kejriwal's premises on 21.03.2024 (belonging to the arrestee himself) are yet to be extracted as the arrestee has sought time to provide password/login credentials after consulting with his lawyers.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju and Special Public Prosecutor Zoheb Hossain while appearing for ED told the court that Kejriwal has given evasive replies and has not cooperated fully with investigation. He further submitted that the CM refused to disclose his passwords to digital data and said he would only do so after consulting his lawyers.

Senior Advocate Ramesh Gupta appeared for Kejriwal. The Delhi CM personally appeared in court and made several statements in Hindi after taking permission from the Court despite his lawyers being present.

AAP Ministers Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Atishi along with the Chief Minister's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, were also present in the Court.

While speaking on his arrest he said actual money trail is Sarath Reddy giving Rs 55 crores to BJP via electoral bonds after arrest.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday informed the trial court that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is not cooperating in investigation and has not disclosed passwords to digital data.

On March 27, the Delhi High Court refused immidiate release for Kejriwal against arrest for a final hearing on April 3.

The High Court directed the ED to file its reply in the IA as well as the main Writ Petition moved by Kejriwal challenging his arrest by April 2. It also clarified that the case will be listed for final disposal on April 3 and no adjournment shall be granted in the same.
